Scranton was a great place to visit.
Scranton was a great place to visit. Our stay was going well until the evening before our last day my 8 year old nephew was called a racist word by some young white men standing in the hallway of our hotel. He turned the corner of the hallway ahead of us headed to our room and when he turned the corner someone from the group looked at him and said "It's only a ni××××". They may have assumed he was alone. My nephew has never experienced anything like that before and it was upsetting.

We are only on a road-trip overnighter this time but on a previous trip to Scranton I came primarily for the railroad and coal history in the area. Beyond my limited interests, I can't say it's much of a tourist destination (other than for fans of "The Office " TV show). However, it could be considered as a steppingstone to the Poconos mountains area.

Lived there prior. We were in town for a family funeral. Scranton is a good place to be from. Not entirely sure, if all would see it in the same light as we do. However, from a historical perspective, the reflections of the railroad and mining industry still present possibly offers some interesting insight and information.

Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions.
Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions. Very cool city with lots of interesting and historic architecture. Interesting Steam locomotive museum in town.
The Glider Diner has an excellent breakfast for a bargain and Coopers seafood is an awesome spot for supper with tons of memorabilia and an extreme selection of beer available.
The streets in town are poorly labeled and riddled with potholes but otherwise navigation was pretty straightforward.
It is exquisite and unique , so well maintained. The architectural details are fascinating.
Anthony at the front desk is so welcoming, helpful, and kind. He even remembered me from my last visit 5 months ago!
The food at breakfast and at Trax was delicious. The bartenders and servers were outstanding. The room was great, the beds comfy . We've traveled a lot but this is our favorite hotel ! Who knew we'd find this gem in Scranton!
We stayed one night on our way north. The hotel is easy to locate next to I81. The room is a nice size with desk and couch. It had a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom has 2 sinks, one on the outside of the bathroom and the other in the bathroom. Could be usefull but we didn't use the outside one. The shower had good pressure. The bed was very comfortable.
Staff was top notch...we arrived later and the front desk staff was so friendly and interactive with us!! The rooms were awesome...the beds oh my gosh so so comfy...I want those blankets!!! Breakfast was amazing!!! Location was perfect...right off highway and close to food, fuel etc!! This was our favourite hotel on our journey by far!!!
The architectural character of a preserved historic rail-station is evident, creating an amazing experience.
Marble floors and walls, with a partial Tiffany glass ceiling (as well as a restaurant) in the expansive former passenger waiting room.
Hotel manager was gracious and enthusiastic to share her knowledge of the building history.
Location was just off the highway and what a fabulous sight the hotel is all lit up at night , we had breakfast which was good and reasonably priced ,. we also had dinner in the hotel bar the food was better than some fancy cafes
We loved the hotel so much booked again on the way back from Niagra falls for an overnight stay .
The last day my room was not clean no towels and dirty.
The hotel was dirty after the snow and it was under stuff
At night there was no body to make even delivery of clean towels we had to go down and pick them up and nobody picked the dirty towel replaced the bed cleaned the room and took out the garbage.
The rooms are very specious and staff were amazing. From checkin to breakfast, always had smile on their face. This hotel is pet free which was a bonus for us as we have family member who is allergic to certain pets.
The fact that this hotel use to be a train station made it very interesting. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays! The Pub had excellent food and great customer service as well. Very enjoyable!
